Over the last century, the global community has made significant strides in developing standards on how diverse countries and cultures can work together. Since then, globalism has been on the rise leading to people from diverse backgrounds populating all parts of the globe - even monoethnic communities.
 
This raises the question: What standards currently exist to help nations integrate diversity in their culture, respecting the view of the migrants while retaining local traditions and practices. This is the very heart of the need that this Declaration of Diversity addresses. It is a living proposal that branches from the Universal Declaration of Human Rights to help establish the guidelines and boundaries to help unify diversity, giving credence to new ways of thought while protecting the beliefs and traditions of the existing citizens of any nation.
 
At its core, the Universal Declaration of Diversity affirms that:
 
“All forms of diversity have a right to existence, expression, continuity, natural progression and respect in so much that their intent, basis and form are in accordance with the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.”

The intent of this living proposal is to begin the conversation on how, together we can establish, maintain and enhance harmonious interactions across our vast, diverse and distinct global population.
 
In 1948, the Declaration of Human Rights was ratified by the UN council establishing an international standard for how human life is to be globally respected. In this comprehensive document, Articles 18 to 21 established an individual’s right to freedom of expression. The Universal Declaration of Diversity expands on those and many more articles to set the standards on how different, cultures, races, beliefs, communities and group entities can maintain unity in their respective diversity.
 
To that end this Declaration of Diversity is similarly structured to the Universal Declaration of Human Rights with introduction, preamble and article sections. The overall aim is to obtain enough petition signatures and global community revisions of the living proposal to present the case to the United Nations (UN) assembly in the hopes of ratifying the articles thus establishing rules and guidelines on how different peoples from different nations and cultures can live together while respecting one another’s traditions, beliefs and manner of expression.
